Rosey's Cafe
139 Unley Road
Unley 5061
Friend that I've known for practically forever - Weena Wee - came for surprise visitations over the weekend. So with mind made up to be super rebellious (not really) and skip Tuesday class, we slept in and had a nice lady brunch date at Rosey's cafe.
Excuse the bad photos, my camera is still away getting fixed so all I have at the mo is my phone. Got amused looks - probably because I am a little Asian taking lots of nooby photos on my galaxy s4 with my other little Asian friend. This would have looked so much more profresh and more normal if I was white and had a real camera.
_THE FOOD_

She got the veggie breakfast and of course I got the meatier version - because BACON. I still don't understand why breakfast is always so expensive but it was so good. The smashed avo was amazing (but when is it not). Loved the spinach and mushrooms. The rye was dense and toasted perfectly. BUT THE BACON. BEST BACON I HAVE EVER EATEN HANDS DOWN. I don't know what they do to it but it is just the right amount of salty and oh so crisp. I am ready to marriage-commit to whoever made this bacon.
I tried some of the home beans on the veggie spread. They were alright - honestly I prefer more smoky bbq-ness (?) with homemade beans since a grilled tomato fills the tomato criteria of the breakfast. If you are vegetarian I guess the other spread is out of the question - if you are not though GET THE BACON.

_THE PLACE_
I love going for brunch in Adelaide because it seems that every cafe has a cool but quaint theme. The way a place looks, especially for cafes, will really determine whether I like it or not. I know the food should be the most important, but I like enjoying my surroundings while sipping the coffee. It's part of the whole coffee experience.
Rosey's is simple but wonderful. The white plaster walls make the small shop feel very open and airy and I love the timber floors. Urgh Timber Floors. And of course the wood panel detail at the counter.
The lights are all hanging mason jars with little animal figurines or marbles in them (unfortunately I couldn't get my phone that high). And of course that floating bar. It doesn't look very convenient but it looks so cool so in the morning it doesn't really matter how functional it is.

Really? Timber floors and now exposed brick. This place was made for me. Literally sat there drooling over the wall and the floor then back to the wall then back to the floor.
_THE ATMOSPHERE_
There's no point in a place having good food, awesome interiors but then it's just shit to eat there. I guess it was a bit quiet since it was a Tuesday morning - but it was a good balance of lively enough that it was dead but not so full that it was too noisy to have a conversation over breakfast. And I didn't feel too judged for taking way too long contemplating whether bacon was the way to go or not (I have a slight fear of waitresses - I don't know why but they always seem more scary and judgey if you order obviously more food than you can eat).
All in all, I think I am slowly falling in love with Rosey's. Already got another lady date penciled in.
